Joran, a number of years ago we cleaned and refinished the interior from the mast aft on Pika, our 1967 MkI. We used a "deck" cleaned which worked well removing the old oil but was hard to rinse off. We then applied Z-Spar water borne Captains polyurethane varnish. The results were less than satisfactory. There appeared a white residue in the grain. Don't know the cause as some areas were fine. Most of this I have removed and refinished with ZAR exterior satin polyurethane which is my old standby for wood working projects. This turned out fine but is just a little "flatter" than I would like. When I get around to it I will over coat with a 50:50 mix of satin and gloss.
