I am in the process of doing the same as I recentlyh purchased the boat and while in transit the engine blew a rod and it is still sitting on the hard waiting for the new engine. In any case, the teak inserts are actually covered with a veneer and below them I am assuming what must be marine grade plywood. I am replacing the veneer, varnishing to a high gloss and sealing all the way around the corners between the fiberglass and the wood. You can find stuff on replacing veneer on the web. I prefer the wood and I hope to bring it all back to a high gloss.
