Garth, I think you are correct in stating that 67 MK-Is were built. As far as we know, all A-37s were built at Whitby, Ontario (by Whitby Boat Works), although some of the Alberg 30s were built at Ajax, Ontario (as the result of a fire). The 5'-6" draft spec should be taken as "advisory" only. I would suspect that spec probably held true for a new production boat, before fully loaded. I know that our 1975 MK-II draws just about 6', and it has never been "fully" loaded as some cruisers are (we've raised the waterline bootstripe several times). Also, after the years, all boats absorb some water into the hull (my opinion only)which increases the displacement. I would suspect that very few A-37s actually sit on their original waterlines.
